BIOGRAPHY
Susan Levine was born in Poland in 1924, into a large and close-knit family that was tragically lost during the horrors of the Holocaust. As a young woman, she survived the devastation of Nazi occupation, but her strength and resilience would shape the life she built after the war. In post-war liberated Germany, Susan met Zigi Levine, and together, they embarked on a new journey to the United States, seeking both safety and the promise of the American dream.
Settling in Brooklyn, New York, Susan and Zigi raised two children, Max and Ellen, and from them, she was blessed with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Known for her boundless love, wisdom, and honesty, Susan became a cherished matriarch in her family and community. But perhaps most notably, she was renowned for her exceptional cooking—especially her famous soups. Susan's kitchen was a place of comfort, where everyone was welcomed with open arms and fed with a generous heart. Her small Brooklyn apartment, filled with the aromas of home-cooked meals, was often the center of family gatherings and celebrations, where loved ones would come together to share in the warmth of her hospitality.
Susan's legacy lives on in the love she shared, the lessons she imparted, and the memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her. She was deeply loved by all, and her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends. This memorial page is dedicated to keeping her memory alive, forever honoring the woman who taught us the true meaning of family, love, and togetherness.
